Oahu ~ Day 1

WE made it to Oahu!! I still can't believe we went to Hawaii. A few months before going Brian, all of a sudden, was concerned about going. Not me I still wanted to go! We talked about it many times. I finally stopped bringing it up. When we booked our flight Brian still wasn't feeling good about the trip but he didn't know why. Many, many times Brian would say, "Thanks for making us go!" Like I could make him do anything. The whole trip was amazing for both of us!

The flight over was challenging.  We knew but didn't realize it was an 8 hour flight. The flight over was looong. Too long. It didn't help that our flight out of DFW was delayed 4 hours. It was such a long day.  We didn't get to our hotel till 10:30PM, 3:30AM Central. Like I said, a long day. We didn't have anything planned for our first day. We got up whenever, but I didn't want to sleep the day away in Paradise. After breakfast we walked to a beach. A beautiful beach!!

I love how these surfboards are stored on the walkway to the beach. We walked along the main street until we found this. Even the walkway is beautiful!

After a couple hours at the beach we were hungry. We found a Mexican place that had A-MAZING fish tacos! My tortilla was not big enough to hold everything together. YUM!

We relaxed a bit then went for a drive to Diamond Head Crater. We read online that the hike would take 60-90 minutes and it was an easy hike. So we went. In the middle of the picture, on the top of that mountain is our goal.

Beautiful views everywhere. One of the batteries below.

This lighthouse was built in 1899 and it still working.  It can be seen 17 miles away.
BTW - this hike wasn't easy. Brian thought I had taken him on a death hike.
The view of Honolulu was breathtaking! So many buildings! Along the beach is a pink building/hotel. Do you see it?

We were on the beach, in front of that hotel, this morning. Kind of cool!

I captured this picture on the way down from Diamond Head. At the end of hard things is always a rainbow!

This tree Brian is standing by is a Chinese Banyan tree.  The roots are crazy huge!

After a long day of travel yesterday and an early morning scheduled for the next day, we decided to head back to the hotel to relax.
