new traditions

Normally we have a Christmas dinner, read the Christmas story from the bible, then let the kids each open a gift.

This year is very different. When McKinzie and Geoff were here for Thanksgiving we exchanged presents then, so there will be no opening gifts tonight.

Bailee needed to be at work at 1 so we had a Christmas lunch instead. We barely cleaned up the breakfast dishes before Bailee started making the rolls.

Mason really wanted to go ice skating so after lunch we went to find used skates for the kids. We spent over an hour at a city park in 10 degree weather. Luckily there's wasn't even a hint of wind so it wasn't too bad.

The kids loved it!! By the time we left they all had sore feet. Carson's whole body was sore, he spent a good amount of time laying on the ice as well. Once we were completely numb, they all had learned to turn in a circle and stop without falling. We then hurried home for some hot chocolate.
