swim meet

Carson was nervous for his first meet. He had two relays and two individuals. We had to be at the  pool by 4:45. The meet started at 5:30. It appeared to be organized chaos. There were kids and parents everywhere. We left for home at 8:30.  A long and exciting evening.

Doing the breaststroke...

Game day ~ 2, or is that meet day?

our week activities

Hanging out at the pool! This kid is too cool for his own good.
These two have been sleeping in the basement at least  every other night since school let out. They are laying on a floating trampoline.  I bought it for our reunion at the lake in July.

Do you see the mess behind them? Yeah, I'm tired of putting things away.  That's all I have left to put away from the move. I haven't touched them for at least a month.
Mason playing on his kindle.  He is such an animal lover.  :0)

The clouds were so cool on Wednesday.  We had an amazing storm.  The worst was when I was driving Mason to church in the evening.  Rt. 31 was flooded in quite a few places.

Carson had a cub scout hike yesterday.  I was hoping to go with but I had to be home for all the contractors coming and going. Did I mention that we're having our kitchen remodeled? When it's all finished I'll share pictures.

Then there's this girl off having fun in Germany. I talk with her almost every day.  I'm so grateful for technology.  She's having fun! Having picnics in castles, visiting old churches, I'm jealous.

field day moments

Playing tree tag.  I had never heard of this before.

The first tug of war they counted off the kids. Then they did boys against girls.  The boys won!! They did it again and some moms started pulling with the girls.  The boys still won!!

River Festival

The first weekend after school ended was the annual River Festival in St. Charles. The kids weren't really into it at first but by the end we all had a great time.

They had a water skiing team that did pyramids, and twirled, and very cool jumps ALL on the water!

Carson did a little tae-kwon-do and even broke a board.

The coolest part was probably the reptile show.  This guy was very entertaining and had many types of gators and lizards.

A big part of the festival is the Chinese boat races. Many, many teams sign up to compete for the win.  It was fun to watch! They also had a couple of sand sculptures. I wish I had taken pictures of them too. I hope we do it again!!

Friday the 13th

It's been a good day today...mostly.

Brian started removing tile Wednesday night so last night and this morning the boys finished removing the majority. They worked hard.
Then after lunch Mason had a kayak and canoeing activity on the Fox River. Carson was able to get on the river too!

Even by himself! He thought it was way cool!! So did Mason!

One thing on our "summer bucket list" is visiting a new park every week. This park is near Mason's school. Carson wanted to go here first. Do you see him at the top of the rocket?

I've talked with Karlee a few times since she's been in Germany. She's enjoying when she out and about but it seems she's struggling when she's home with her host family. She's struggling with understanding the language the most. I hope it gets better for her. I worry about her all day.

off for an adventure

This girl is headed to Texas tonight then off to Germany tomorrow for three weeks. I can't believe my little girl is big enough to go out into the world like this. I'm really going to miss her.
I made her a pillow to help her along her journey.

On the back of the pillow I stitched the places she'll visit; Rhine, Cologne, Winterberg, and Oberwesel.

Now I wait until I hear she has landed in Fort Worth, safe with her big sister.

swim team

Carson joined a swim team this summer. He'll have three practices and one meet per week.

This should use up some of his energy and help him sleep at night.
